Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST), aims to be the leading institution for the advancement of Applied physics in the world.

FUUAST is committed to investigate optical. Bio-medical and renewable energy resources fields of science and engineering as a separate discipline. Department of Engineering Physics was established in 2005. It admitted first intake of BS (Engineering Physics) in 2005 and continued to take students in subsequent semesters. FUUAST conducts two semesters of study each year.

Department of Engineering Physics offers specialization for BS (Engineering Physics) in Optical Engineering, Bio-medial Engineering and Renewable Energy Resources. It also accepts students in MSC and Ph.D in Experimental Physics. Duration of study for BS(Engineering Physics) is 8 semesters. Duration for MSC may vary from minimum 3 to maximum 5 semesters. FUUAST has more facilities in laser, fiber optic and solar energy research. Other areas of interest include filamentation, laser ignition, hydrogen energy and lightning. Duration for Ph.D varies from minimum 6 to maximum 10 semesters as full time registered student at FUUAST, Islamabad, Pakistan
